Losing the Blogging Feeling
April 2, 2009 @ 11:57 AM | by zette | permalink

Another school year is over and I'm back in the island.

I'm sorting out my online accounts and deleting those that I don't really use. Now that Raiza has an LJ, I scrapped my Myspace account.

Marion and I had a chat at our house yesterday and convinced me to join Facebook. I'm thinking of junking my Friendster. I never really liked the site anyway. I just kept it because it was my way of keeping in touch with old friends in grade school and high school that have migrated elsewhere.

I'm downloading album torrents, thanks to Che's semi-tutorial of uTorrent.

Our finals grades are still not out but I'm kind of confident with the results, which is kind of weird. Hopefully, this really spells a good outcome.

The Grand Alumni Homecoming will be in three weeks and apparently, my aunts and uncle are coming over to join, kids (my cousins) in tow. My stepmom is stressing over the idea.

I haven't blogged in a while. I just don't feel like it even though I have a lot of free time and there's an internet connection in the house already.

Free Goods
April 3, 2009 @ 09:19 AM | by zette | permalink

I love the fact that you can import your blog to your Facebook Notes. It makes things so much easier and fun.

I'm downloading songs Myke sent me months ago. It's way overdue and I really want to listen them already. It's just taking too long to download them from YMail.

Jae2x told me through text that my favorite DVD DVD X shops were back in business yesterday. I'm so relieved. Myke said he was boycotting GAMEKNB? because of the raid. Who wouldn't think of doing that?!

I'm downloading a pdf of the Watchmen Comics and I can't wait. X-Men Origins: Wolverine got leaked in the Internet and I'm trying to download myself a copy but there are too many leeches. But since the shops are back, I'll just wait for my trusty pirates to burn massive copies for sale. HAHA I know it's bad for the entertainment business and all but why pay for something that you could get for free, if not, a lesser fee?!

Marion is having a party tomorrow. I hope a lot of our high school friends are coming, sort of a pre-reunion bash. The thing is WMSU Nursing is having their graduation on Monday yet, April 6th. smiley-undecided.gif

I'm giving my phone an internal make-over. smiley-tongue-out.gif Ever since I came home, all I did was download stuff--torrents, themes, etc. I miss the TV and DVD player in Zamboanga but I need to rest from DVDs and television for a while.

Summer Bummer
April 6, 2009 @ 09:39 AM | by zette | permalink

It takes about a day before my Tabulas post shows up in Facebook but it's okay. So if you're reading this at Facebook, I wrote it the day before.

I reread How to be Really Really Really Happy by Bo Sanchez and it never fails to make me smile. I don't really like "inspirational" books. What I love about this book is that it doesn't really label or present itself that way. It's simply a collection of life stories. And I love stories and I love how he relates it. My favorite stories are More Than a Touch, A Worm Named Sylvester, A Bo Fanatic, About Fathers and Beauty Queens, Women, I Love Rubber Bands and Love Story.

I'm having fun with the Facebook applications. slaphappy.gif

Since my friends and I decided we won't take summer classes, I'm at a loss of how to spend the next two months of freedom. I'll go back on May 2 for Lace's birthday but that's about it.

I woke up paranoid at around 3AM today. I though of T2 (the movie) and (how it connects with) Auditing. Who wouldn't have nightmares about Auditing when we just got news that some got axes (line of 7s) in the finals exams?! I'm not really worried about my grade which makes me a tad more apprehensive.

I found a lot of cool themes for my phone at Zedge. Download Freak!

Vanity Fair: Twilight and West Side Story
April 11, 2009 @ 11:25 AM | by zette | permalink

Vanity Fair features the most creative photographs and covers of all the magazines I know. I love browsing through their website's portfolios.

Here are some that I found worth reposting.

I love professing my utter disgust with the Twilight series but I can't help that the Robert Pattinson-Kristen Stewart love team just makes me gush all over. This is for Tara and all the Twilight fans. Don't they look better without make-up?! HAHA

To view the full Twilight Outtakes, click HERE.

Here's one of the pictures from Mark Seliger's West Side Story Revisited folio.

It features Ben Barnes as Tony, Camilla Belle as Maria and Jennifer Lopez as Anita. If you look closer you can also see Chris Evans, Cam Gigandet, Brittany Snow, and Robert Pattinson.

Zilch

My dad has been unusually irritating this past few days, just ask my stepmom. I just realized that nothing he does really gets to me anymore. I can laugh things off as if they were nothing. I even had the courage to brush him off a couple of times and tell my stepmom who was on the verge of throwing a fit, to "not mind, small minds." I have mastered the art of ignoring him which happens most of the time.

Our upcoming Grand Alumni Homecoming is giving me vertigo. I don't know what to do anymore. *sigh*

I finally got to watch Hana Yori Dango Final. I'm watching Boys Over Flowers now--the Korean and third adaptation of the manga. I heard they're doing a Filipino version with Sarah Geronimo as Makino Tsukushi. I want to puke! Gah!

I still can't help myself from online book hunting even though I am tempting myself by doing so.

Pupung invited me to a roadtrip and I'm psyched. Hopefully, it'll push through. I can't wait.

I wish I could see the Bears before they leave for Manila. I'm missing them more every day.

High School Rocks!
April 17, 2009 @ 10:05 AM | by zette | permalink

It has been four years since I graduated high school. Looking back, I could say that it was indeed one of the greatest experiences I have ever had.

After four years outside Basilan National High School and learning about my college friends' personal high school experiences, I came to appreciate my own. It's not that our school exceeds Ateneo de Zamboanga, Chiong Hua or Regional Science. In fact, compared to those schools, we were pretty much primitive and simple. We used manila paper during reports and the school just had an internet connection installed for the first time during our senior year. We also studied agriculture in TLE and actually planted some vegetables and tended our own garden plots. But you see, this is what makes our high school experience unique to theirs and the main reason why I'm glad I was able to have it.

During our stint as seniors, you could say we ruled the school. We got away with almost everything we did. Hey, I even got our principal's mobile number and texted him personally. (He got my UP envelope and didn't give it to me. Pfft!) When we asked our adviser and teachers not to have class because we wanted to have a Valentine's Day party, we usually got our way. Our teachers loved us, well, most of them anyway. And we loved them or at least loved to make fun of them. I still get mushy when I remember the Despedida Party we threw in honor of Ma'am Bazan, our second-year class adviser and Biology teacher's retirement.

My college friends' typically have 5-7 sections per year level in their high school. When I tell them BNHS stats, they don't quite believe it. There's usually an average of 50 students per class. We we're 52 in our class. Our batch, Batch 2005, had 18 sections which amounts to about 800 graduates. Batch 2009 had about 1,300 graduates. It's normal since BNHS is the only public high school within the city.

So much has changed since then. Everything is different yet unsurprisingly, it still feels the same whenever I get together with my high school friends. This reunion marks a pivotal point in our lives. Most of us are already college graduates gearing up for a life in the real world. It's nice that before making that jump, they could get to step back and return to the place where our dreams were made and we actually had fun making them.

It's kind of funny how things turned out. Pupung finally outed. Darrel, the most mischievous member of our class, is attending PNPA. Marvick, the resident Math whiz and chronically allergic person, now has a degree in Nursing. Then there's me, a Biology/Chemistry buff who's still making her way towards a degree in Accountancy. My, my.

I ran out of ideas in designing the tarp so this is how it turned out. I wanted it to look like a piece of paper with doodles and graffiti, you get the drift. FYI, I wasn't being patriotic, fourth-year sections were named after Philippine National Heroes.

Those were my class sections in high school. Sheesh! Nostalgia overload.

Neverending
April 27, 2009 @ 12:47 PM | by zette | permalink

The Grand Alumni Homecoming is over. Aunt Anne, Aunt Marlyn, their husbands and children already left for Cebu and Manila respectively. Uncle Jun just left today. Uncle Joel will be staying with us until May 3.

Over all, I had fun. drunk.gif

Yesterday, Marion, Earl, Reyner, Pupung, Jacob and I went to White Beach at Malamawi Island. It was great. I was the only girl in the group. I don't know what happened to the others and why they weren't able to join us.

I have a one-week reprieve before I'll go back to Zamboanga for Lace's birthday. It's a good thing we didn't book the trip to Cebu earlier or I will miss it and will not get to see the Bears before they leave for Manila.

Gah! My summer is packed. cute.gif

I just bought abother set of books from Carmel. Thankfully, I don't have to withdraw my own money to pay for it. Yay!

LAST WORDS

People are fascinating. They're full of surprises. You don't really know what to expect. Looks can be deceiving. Sometimes the people you think are coño are the ones who are down-to-earth and the people you think are simple are the ones who are picky and hard to please.

Change is constant. Hopefully, we all change for the better. Communication is key. Don't rush into things without knowing the entire story. As they say, maraming namamatay sa maling akala.

Whew!
